You would have more success being the Michael Bay to a business consultant.

You definitely could not BS your way through being a Philosophy Prof. not even jokingly because of all the work, time and material to cover.

I took a philosophy class called Logic and Critical Thinking where we did proofs, learned FOL, a different language. There are other philosophy classes not centered around the technical stuff but you need to know that stuff in order to make a philosophical view on the books being read and how to analyze other philosophers and their premises and conclusions.

That being said, I feel like you missed the mark on that one.

Sure, you couldn't BS being a philosophy prof to someone who already knows philosophy, but students who are in their first philosophy class are easily BS'ed.

I personally thought it was a slushee the first time I read it, but a coffee does make more sense when trying to fake it to make it. Love your comics, btw, Adam.

I thought he was drinking a Big Gulp or something from a gas station. I don't know of a lot of people who slurp coffee. Also that is a rather large cup.

I love the Michael bay one, and i always though that about philosophy, even when you study about other people, its just learning about the pseudo-intellectual phrases they probably just pulled out of their ass. "if a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound" are you fucking high?

    • TSED

      February 23, 2011, 6:55 pm | # | Reply

      That isn't philosophy.

A philosophical approach to that question would likely be an attempt to prove that:

      A) The tree never fell – it came into existence in just that way, thanks to your solipsistic reality.

      B) The concept of falling is completely arbitrary, so it can be redefined at will, and thus the answer is whatever you want it to be. (More a poststructuralist thing – less phil majors and more English majors, but liberal arts all the same. And there's a surprising amount of overlap.)

      C) Yes. Yes it did.

Please don't dismiss entire fields of study because you don't have any idea of what they're talking about. It's just a little low-brow, you know?

I think Eli's post wins today's comments section.

Also, this is quite possibly the best Bug yet. Of course, this is coming from a huge Transformers fan who hated Michael Bay's "work" even before he took to crapping all over one of my favorite franchises. So, you know, I may be a bit biased.
