Love how the chameleon blends into the scenery. Salamanders are indeed amphibians, but they look closely enough to lizards so we may consider this a artistic license.
You mean, like, with a speaking part? I’m thinking paramecium. And before that a talking lampshade and a creature from the black lagoon. But yeah, this a historic strip.

Adam is wonderful at getting expression into such simple drawings. And I tune in each day wondering, “Where the hell was his head at this time?” My kind of guy: simple, fun-loving, and bent out of shape.
Those lizards are adorable. Also, I didn’t even notice the little chameleon gag until I read it in the comments, and that extra little detail just makes me love this comic that much more.
As to why Jim Morrison was called The Lizard King, this is why:
Jim Morrison wrote a poem called “The Celebration of the Lizard” that first appeared on the sleeve of The Doors’ album “Waiting For The Sun.” The poem contained the line: “I am the Lizard King, I can do anything.” Fans thought Morrison was referring to himself instead of another persona who Morrison created as the fictional author. The nickname stuck, and, after a while, the band added music and the poem was performed several times live.

When I started reading the sentence where the lizard wants bug to bend over I was like “Whoa!”.

I know this is picking nits, but salamanders aren’t lizards. You could–instead– have said geckos or skinks or basilisks or iguanas, etc.
