I’m afraid of saying something stupid. On the phone, when people can’t see your face and tell if you’re joking, this can be bad. It’s worse when they can hang up on you. I’m guessing that’s why we’re afraid of phones.
I’m afraid of phones because… The first time I ordered pizza no one could decide on what they wanted, so I hung up. I called back and opened with, “Hey, it’s me again.” I was 14 and told that if I didn’t order my own pizza, then we wouldn’t get to have any pizza.
The pizza place is a block away. I call and order, then go pick it up myself 15 minutes later. Better than the 45 it takes for it to arrive if they deliver…
My god the " I'm afraid of phones" and "I only have travelers checks" really made me laugh. Absolutely brilliant. I just stumbled onto this (literally) comic a few hours ago and I think its awesome (:

My girlfriend is so the i'm-afraid-of-phones bug, it's hilarious. This odd phenomenon always fascinated me, although i never quite could understand it.
