Sadly, Adam, today wasn’t the best day to make jokes about a sociopath killing young children.

To be fair… I suspect these strips are written several days in advance, to have a stopgap if he has any mishaps. So, I very much doubt this was written KNOWING about the whole movie theatre tragedy….

This was prewritten and predrawn before the shooting and probably published before he knew about the shooting. It is an excellent piece of black humor, and although now the event has put a bad taste in our mouths that may taint enjoyment of the comic, I don’t think we should be blame Adam for anything. Had this shown up any other time, nothing would have been thought of it and it would just be enjoyed as another bug comic.

Rereading your comment, you don’t seem mad and just seem to be reflecting on the poor timing. For some reason, I thought you were hostile, my bad.

I really doubt if Adam knew about the tragedy while writing this. I don’t blame him at all. I think it’s just bad luck it came out today.

I wrote this the day before the tragedy in Colorado.

This strip was posted before the shooting – he uploads them at midnight.

More specifically – it appears to be midnight Central time, and the shooting was Mountain time.

Also, when tragedy strikes, humor can be a way to cope. No, Adam would never knowingly add insult to injury as it were, I’m sure of it. Also, it wasn’t just children, so really, no connection anyway.
As always, Bug lifts my spirits EVERY day!
One more thing, Adam, why did you have to drag Mr. Belvedere into it?

This really made me grin, in a deliciously cranky way. And I needed a laugh today. As Jeff said, in the face of tragedy sometimes humor is a lifesaver. I live about half a mile from the theater where the shooting happened, and my fiancee is in the same neuroscience program as that….creature was. He and I both needed a laugh this morning, and this comic helped. By the way, Bug is my go to comic when I need to smile. Thanks.

Orphans. It’s ALWAYS orphans. …Or puppies. BUT EVEN SO.
