It’s a play on the phrase “I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords”, which, if we assume the narrator is a bug like the rest of the characters, makes it funnier that a bug would be referencing this line.

I often feel like giving kudos for great strips but I always end up writing something that sounds lame when put into words.
