I didn’t know you uploaded near Midnight! I guess that’s just to maximize the amount of time until the next comic…

Mom is all calm, cool & collected while dad is being “force choked” (c’mon, telekinesis is basically the same thing as The Force, amiright?) by Junior. She’s even got her hands folded in a pleading way so SHE doesn’t get Junior’s wrath. Ya gotta love Adam’s wacky sense of humor.
Plus one of them fan thingy’s would totally rock, I betcha.

Reminds me of a Gallagher bit:

Wonder why it is your underarms stink. Did it ever come in handy? Did you ever say “Well thank God my underarms stunk! He came out of the bushes and I said Get back! I’ve been to aerobics!”

      I remember that bit. 😀

It makes perfect evolutionary sense, actually. Being largely hairless, the liquid stays on our skin, for the most part. Evaporation occurs in part because among the liquid, molecules with the highest kinetic energy tend to break free, thus reducing the overall average kinetic energy and thus temperature of the liquid, which then cools us.

Sweating is actually pretty good. I’d hate it if we had to regulate our temperature like dogs, having to keep our mouths open all the time and drooling all over the place.

Just think of sweat as “body drool”. We’re pretty gross.

How come humans are the only animals that need to wipe?

I know it’s just a comic but I wanted to throw a little science at you.

Sweat actually is useful in a natural environment (or at least outdoors), due to a process called evaporative cooling. Wind forces water and sweat to evaporate some, and when it does it takes a little heat with it. Without sweat, panel 3 wouldn’t make much sense as the wind wouldn’t do much.

I know I’m a bit late to this party, but I’d like to point out that sweating works just fine out west where we have this thing called dry heat, also known as low humidity. You sweat, and the liquid evaporates and carries the heat off with it. There’s even air conditioners that work like that.

It doesn’t work so well in the southeast, where an average humidity of 107% just means you end up soaking wet because your sweat can’t evaporate.

Did something change on the mobile site? I don’t see the random button anymore, but I see it when I use a desktop.

Yeah, I’ve heard some people don’t see the random button when viewing on their phone. Not sure what’s causing that. Gonna look into that after I finish up work on my book.

It just occurred to me — would having a fan actually do much good if you didn’t sweat? Does moving air over a surface cool it if you DON’T have evaporative cooling, too? My physics isn’t good, so I don’t know…

You are correct. You need evaporative cooling for a fan to cool you down. But, it’s funny even with the science off.

Nope, sorry.. I have to disagree with the logic of that last panel. Sure its to prevent extra chores heaped upon junior ant, but doesn’t that increase the workload now incurred by senior ant? Where is senior ant’s telekinesis?

It would be a constant battle of the minds whereupon the weakest mind is the one doing all the chores…. which upon retrospect could explain the last panel. 😉
