I figure the beans just fell into the potion he was making and became magic.

“CHUMPledore” just slayed me. The image that flashed up was Miracle Max in Princess Bride. I’m completely broken now.

Mentally pronounced it first as Chump-le-door. I was slightly confused, but got it a moment after. Good comic as usual!

Nerd bug in panel three is telling the wizard to “hang on a minute”, right?

    😀

The cow was clearly just a change in direction for the famed food magician. I mean add beans and beef…

I’ll take one of each, please, and can you sprinkle some fairy dust over’em?

If you think about it, good wizards didn’t normally imbue things with magical powers, they sorta spread good cheer and fireworks and generally did good works… whereas evil wizards put magic into things like beans, or maybe rings, or horcruxes…. or heavily depended on them. I am sure there are more knowledgeable people who can line up an argument against that, to which I say, here, have some beans.

I believe it is a reference to Dumbledore, the headmaster for the school Harry Potter attended. But I’m old as well and did not get it immediately either.

I’m working my way through the series from Netflix DVD (being dragged, more like it) and I still took a bit to get it.

I’ve always assumed it was like radiation. Like, if you got a plant from near Chernobyl, it would be radioactive. So those beans just happened to grow in a place where there had been a toxic magic spill of some sort, maybe a truck carrying fairy dust overturned, or illegal dumping of alchemical waste or something.

I always assumed they were naturally magical, no potions involved. Like they were their own unique species of bean.
