My sister always gets on me about not liking yams.

Eww! A potato-like thing that tastes like candy and converts to a thick paste in your mouth? No thanks.

I liken it to a banana and pickles sandwich. It’s an abomination against nature.

Your sister is right to like yams (or what our grocery stores call yams). Not only are they healthful, they are my favourite comfort food. And don’t your teeth turn most things to mush?

But I am definitely with you on the banana and pickles sandwich.

Banana and pickles isn’t bad if you add peanut butter.

Excellent title, and that last panel made me snort! “Listening for anchovies.” Ha!
Man, I love this comic. Look forward to it every morning…

Not me… I’ll eat anything but a rutabaga. You gotta draw the line somewhere…

    Great comic as always!

What about other turnips? I mean, I admit that I like purple-tops BETTER than rutabagas, but, if you mash them up with enough butter or rendered chicken fat, salt, pepper, and garlic, they’re both very good.

Or you can mash ’em up, form ’em into patties, and then fry ’em in said butter or fat.

Listening for anchovies…. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who still despises mushrooms. You can’t do anything with them to make them more palatable. Nothing.

One of my proudest moments as a chef was hearing pretty much that exact statement from someone….who was currently devouring an appetizer I’d made….that was 90% mushroom.

The look on their face when I told them was priceless.

See, for me, the TASTE of mushrooms isn’t a problem. It’s the TEXTURE that’s horrifying.

If you dry ’em out, then grind them to a powder, I can use ’em fine. And I suppose I could imagine blending them to a paste and mixing them in with something.

      But… yeah. The texture… *shudder*

I’ve often said the exact same thing. For me, it applies to coconut too.

Once you muscle past the gag reflex, all kinds of possibilities open up…

Give yourself a cookie (of a flavor of your choosing) if you know that reference.

The zombies really need to get their hands on the anchovy stethoscope. Little known fact: Zombies are deathly allergic to anchovies. But then again, anyone who likes anchovies is a robot spy.

You seem to be sort of obsessed with zombies. You realize zombies are fictional, right?

I totally agree. I’m a picky-aterian. 90% of foods make me throw up, have an allergic reaction, be sick, or something. And probably another 5% I am not willing to try because I’m worried they are with the 90%. …I would not do the last panel, as if there were anchovies I’d need to stay 10 ft. away in order to not get sick (for some reason the smell of any seafood/water-life makes me sick).

It’s the same when people act like your food allergies are just a proxy for being picky…

And then there are the people who claim allergies because they refuse to admit they’re picky eaters. Like my aunt. Who once accused me of being picky because I refuse to eat the abomination that is Cadburys chocolate.

You mean AMERICAN Cadbury’s, right? Canadian and British Cadbury’s are both quite good. Different from each other, but both quite tasty.

        It’s only the American Cadbury’s that’s inedible.

And European chocolate is better than either. I just find Cadbury’s too sweet.

Nobody likes mushrooms or anchovies. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.
