I wouldn’t say it’s too late, but you do need to move to a new area if you want to be a doofus late in life.

    How about being a half-doofus?

I agree. I remember my brother once tried to cut an electrical wire when it was on. He said he was going to ‘defuse the bomb’.

This brings up the question of whether doofusness is a conscious decision, or is an inborn trait. I’m of the belief that it is one of those blessings/curses one is born with, sort of like obnoxiousness. It might be trained out of a person, but I don’t think it is trained in. Environmental factors may bring this out in some people more than others, but I think it is already there. But then, I’m not a psychologically adept doofus, I’m just a general, all-purpose doofus. Maybe some more enlightened doofi can elaborate better.

Speaking for all my fellow doofi, no, we cannot elaborate further. You ‘splained just right. At least as far as I can tell…

I remember decideing that I wanted to be rational. dont know how succesful I was tho.

but that still brings up if maybe my DNA/enviroment just simply combined to produce a enitity that was me that so happened to be that kind of person

I think rationality is part genetic and part learned, and that it can partially overcome the doofish tendencies. But in the end, dementia doofusorum will win out!

In truth, Adam, I must have missed something. No, no, not anything problematic. The first and third panels, though; somehow I hadn’t noticed you doing that before.

Actually, being a doofus is actually a symptom of the zombie virus. Adults can only be infected by a direct injection into the blood stream, such as through a bite, but children can be infected just by being near a zombie. This is why most doofuses have been that way since they were kids. It also means that whenever a doofus dies, they will come back as a zombie.

So you’re saying that all zombies are doofuses?

I plan to turn doofus later in life, and call it “senility”.

If you can be stinking rich by that time you would be called eccentric.

I should not want this… but I really need a follow up comic that explains how the sandwich got on the ceiling.

Simple answer – Grilled Cheese / Peanut Butter & Banana on a skillet and just a little too much enthusiasm when doing the pan flip.

I don’t doofus in the kitchen very often due to being able to feed myself and liking food, but there are siblings that are food preparation challenged.

Where I use maybe 1 pot or a pan my little sis will have the sink and counters cluttered with all the pots pans and utensils that she can drag out and all need washing by the end of it. This is after things got better with her kitchen skills. As a kid she used to treat the parental units like Greek Gods – lots of burnt offerings.

So, your sister is like my ex-wife; 3 pots, two ladles, a whole roll of paper towel and a fire extinguisher… for one packet of Ramen.

I was thinking about saying how it happened, but quickly decided that it’s much funnier unexplained.

And for the love of god, MAKE that decision. Don’t hum and haw and try to take a middle path like I did. You just end up with the expectations of seriousness and the skills of a doofus.

As all of my older relatives prove, it is possible to “doofus it up” after you retire.

You can do it in adolescence, but do today’s pre-teens really want to be doofuses or just try it out?
