Chowder-head? I don’t like the repetition of “head”. According to Merriam-Webster, perfectly viable alternatives are birdbrain, clodpoll, cluck, clunk, cretin, dimwit, dip, dodo, dolt, donkey, dope, dullard, dum-dum, dumbbell, dummkopf, dummy, dunce, gander, golem, goof, goon, half-wit, idiot, ignoramus, imbecile, jackass, know-nothing, lamebrain, loon, lump, moron, mutt, natural, nincompoop, ninny, ninnyhammer, nitwit, noddy, noodle, numskull ,oaf, simpleton, stock, stupe, stupid, turkey, yahoo and yo-yo (and there are only two antonyms. Not as much use, I think). And yes, into the pit with the lot of ’em.
The problem with your terminology is, even if you refuse to believe that not all elected officials are chowderheads (or listed alternatives), the fact remains that not all chowderheads (or listed alternatives) are elected officials.
I think it’s a great idea, and with the expected decrease in chowderhead numbers, eventually, all of them will be called into, and from, public office. You just have to start somewhere.
what has gotten worse since stopping volcano sacrifices? we have an excess of knuckleheads for sure, but it seems like more knuckleheads seem to come along with some benefits.

That’s a neat volcano in panel 1. I’m not sure how accurate it looks compared to a real volcano, but nevertheless it looks cool.
And speaking about cool… I like the way the “cool-glasses” bug in panel 2 still manages to retain his “coolness” — even as he’s being thrown into the volcano. (Even his antennae exude coolness in the heat of the moment.)
