I have the Tusken Raider cry as my alarm. Never fails to piss off my parents. 😀

Tell me about it. I live in a small apartment with the dryer/washer through the bedroom wall- and the first night I ran it I nearly had a heart attack!

I reckon Morgan freeman’s voice would go great with pizza rolls! (by the way, love your comic!)

For some reason the manufacturers of my dryer decided it’d be a fantastic idea to have it go off every 10 minutes, just in case you’re busy at the moment and want to hear its sheer awesomeness again. Also, the recent Star Wars references are AMAZING.

If I had to choose a voice for my microwave to tell me my food is ready, I would have to go with Betty White. I dunno, I just think having her tell me my pizza pocket was ready would make it taste de-freaking-licious. Anyway, love the comic, been a huge fan for a long time now! Keep up the amazing work!

I’ve never met a dryer in my life that had a buzzer on it, but I’m not in the US so maybe they just don’t bother here in Australia.

My dryer has a chime not a buzz, “bing ding dong bum doo” It sounds exactly like it. I never hear it from the office and I always forget to take my cloths out.

Exaaactly. If you don’t want to wear the office moniker of Henry Wrinkler, man up and accept that heart-attack inducing buzzer!

Panel 3: Awesome! I don’t think I’ve ever read a comic that used the phrase “butt munch”.
Man, I love this comic. Sometimes it’s my reason for getting up in the morning! Keep ’em coming, Adam. We love it!

Having Kathleen Turner as the voice of my appliances would be awesome! That said, I’m lucky my dryer has a basic beeping sound when it’s done, no buzzer.

What’s really weird is washers NEVER have an “I’m done” sound. I just wander by a couple hours later to retrieve my cold congealed lump of wet cloth. Very annoying.

My old roommate had a dryer that sounded like R2D2 when you changed the settings and then sounded like a ton ton being cut open when it finished.

Noises apart, what’s up with that extra time a dryer always uses when done? The dryer finishes drying, the display reads 00:00, you pull the handle to open the door, but no, it’s locked. Then you wait a bit and pull the handle again, still locked. Count backwards from 30 slowly, nope, still won’t open. Just when you’re about ready to start yelling nasty stuff at the stupid dryer it turns the clothes over one more time, one half lap, just to mock you, THEN release the lock.. What the hell is that all about?!?!?!!!

Never had a dryer. My laundry always gets hung up to dry, the most common thing here. On that note, I’ve had microwaves that *DING* quite so loud, and there is NO WAY to avoid the ding each time you use it. What’s with all the noise? Are those appliances afraid you forget they exist?

Our microwave DINGs every minute if it finishes and you don’t open it right away. Did the designer think I was going to forget I’m hungry?

And yeah, the dryer’s loud enough to frighten us, not to mention the cats. I think that’s in case the maid at the other end of the McMansion needs to hear it. We have neither.

I wish the microwave would continue beeping when my mom’s tea is finished. I’ve found old tea in there on various occasions.

Mine just beeps loudly – but it doesn’t stop beeping when I open the door. It does, however, beep one more time when I open the door. So, it can tell I opened it – shouldn’t that be a sign that I’m aware my food is ready and it can stop alerting me (and waking up the rest of the house) now?

And yet when I *want* a kitchen timer with some moxie, the most I can get is a half-hearted and woefully brief ‘ding’.

Put the dryer R&D crew in charge of egg timers!

I guess my dryer is faulty. It’s from LG, and plays a nice little tune when it’s done. You can hear it at the end of this overly-long video that I didn’t upload: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo5kiQ2nQFg

There have been various moments when I would state something and THAT’s when the loud BZZZZT blares. I would then follow up with, “Hrm, I guess not”.

…and of course the advertising Google chose for this page was for Kenmore appliances, including washers & dryers. Go fig.

Anotherjosh — I too have an LG dryer and was about to post about its little tune. Our LG washer is a few years old and doesn’t ‘sing’, it just has a gentle and pleasant beep. We were rather surprised by the whole song thing.

Of course it does get a little annoying since it’s really very long for a jingle that’s just supposed to say “hey, laundry’s done”

Apparently, the dryer buzzer is now an option on higher end models. Mine makes no sounds whatsoever when done.
