They’re actually pretty cool to be on. Granted I went on one when I was 12 and that’s it, but I had a lot of fun. No real obligations, just tons of food.

Did you mention Pirates? Hotels usually don’t have pirates bounding about the hallways. Seasick pirates fleeing from an iceberg shaped like a gigantic sea serpent. Maybe a seaserpent named Cecil.

Especially as you missed that ’twas Cecil who was seasick.

Ah yes, The Kraken does often come and go around the pacific these days. Something ’bout toxic spills in the water and giant squids it mutters. They just don’t sell medusa’s head in discount stores like they used to, too.

Anyway, my experiences with cruise ships were very nice. (all two of them) The trips were smooth, the accomodations excellent, the service first rate. I’ve done much worse in supposedly high ranked hotels. (I used to travel a lot)

Good timing for this one with the cruise ship Triumph being stuck out in the Gulf. I think that and this comic combined put the cruise ship industry back about 30 years.

One experience on a cruise ship was enough for me. Standing room only in the pool, crowds everywhere. And, of course, since they don’t ever take them out of service for updating, it’s done in the middle of your cruise. They replace thousands of square yards of carpeting. The glue smells were horrendous.

I was on a 7 day cruise which turned into 8 because we were right behind hurricane Sandy. The pool deck was closed almost the entire time so I boozed it up to the tune of 1k.

My dad was a host on a cruise ship line and got to travel the world dancing with the blue-haired ladies. It was funny screening calls for him for the women he gave his tel # to.

I remember on a cruise I was on years ago, the captain was going around chatting with people, and he slipped and fell into the pool…and the lifeguard had to save him. I didn’t feel very secure after that.

I don’t know– if the captain can’t swim, he’s pretty confident the ship won’t sink, no? Or are you referring to his klutziness?

May-hap it was Captain Horatio Huffenpuff or maybe Captain Peter Wrongway Peachfuzz?

Running a ship requires exactly zero swimming ability.

Inability to swim usually motivate the captain more to keep the boat afloat.

What I don’t get about cruise ships is what the heck are you supposed to do on them, and why does that require being out at sea?

I believe the being out at sea part is mostly for the view. Sure, you can go to a nice hotel somewhere with a lot of the same perks but you’re just going to be looking at stationary views the whole time.

Plus, cruise ships have a tendency to stop at multiple ports so people can visit exotic locations. All depends on the cruise you’re on.

I dunno, when you think of what’s seen on Gordon Ramsay’s Hotel Hell, cruise ships seem rather nice.

Disney cruises are GREAT. You got pools, free ice cream, i’m pretty sure there’s a free buffet, bars, gift shops, places for all ages including an adult’s lounge, teenager areas, I already said bars, kids club and baby area. You should get on a Disney cruise! 😀
