My main odd traits I got from my parents are…

being left-handed and weak shoulders (most likely arthritis in the future as well…)

    You're right. They do suck.

The great thing is, if you did get such endowments, how do you know if they were passed down or something new? D:

I lucked out in the genetic roulette thanks to my Dad "spinning the wheel" a lot, so to speak.

4 kidneys, web toes and fingers, and brown eyes (the only one in a family of blue and green eyed people)

yea… its genetically impossible for two blue-eyed people to have a brown-eyed child.

      Explaination:

      blue eyed gene : bb
brown eyed gene : Bb or BB

note there is not B in blue eyed gene.

I know I’m gonna get called on for blah blah blah… meh “This is my I don’t give a crap” digital face 😐

Well genes are not the only think that affect it. Combine that with a predisposition to a color not far from blue you get something people call blue even if it isn’t. One of my friends for example has green eyes but it looks more like blue if you are not very close.

Actually the eye-color is controlled by more than one gene, so it’s not as simple as that.

Yeah, color of eyes isn’t quite as simple as most other traits. They are affected by multiple genes and other stuff too plus there’s always the possibility of mutations too

I inherited arthritis which manifested itself at the ripe old age of two (that's not a typo), fibromyalgia which manifested at seventeen, poly-cystic ovarian syndrome, and a very bleak future. 🙁 The only good thing I got is an intelligence that qualifies me for Mensa, but that's not a very good consolation prize, if you ask me.

Have the two of you with all the autoimmune stuff (fibromyalgia, PCOS, arthritis) tried going gluten-free? Helps an awful lot of people with those issues. And then some find that it's not gluten, but something else that's their trigger (soy, corn, dairy, etc.)

My mom's side passed down a weird trait; an inability to sink. We are all( including my brother) super buoyant. Makes diving impossible. I can't go below 4 feet

nephrotic syndrome which did not disappear after the age of 20 (unknown if it's genetic or not) loose/weak ligaments AND tendons, very lopsided face, chronic migraines, anemia… but seriously, the nephrotic syndrome is the one that sucks the most… there was this one time when I hadn't had a problem for a while, so I'd thought I'd outgrown it and went a week without testing everyday… resulted in over twenty pounds of water stored in my skin so that I couldn't open my eyes, put on my shoes, or even stand up for a while. When I have problems like that, I have to go on HIGH doses of corticosteroids, drink less than four ounces of liquid a day, and eat very little.

I got a incredibly dry sense of humor, inability to draw a straight line, the unrelenting urge to change my environment monthly, and I have to do art everyday. After talking to most everyone in my family, I have gathered little bits from every side and realized I had to embrace my insanity. I feel much better!! LOL

Terrible eyesight (actually worse than either parent-huzzah for -7 vision) neurofibromatosis, short but huge feet, slowish metabolism (i'm a girl who loves her junk food, so it is worse than it seems). Also, thyroid problems and some issue I am not even sure what it is that causes little red bumps to appear on my legs. My mom and grandma have them and I live in terror for the day that I start too. Also, we have a pre-disposition to breast cancer in my family.

My brother is screwed too-baldness runs in both sides of the family. Also, he has a really weirdly shaped head, so he will look ridiculous bald…

Yellow skin, squinty eyes, kinda short…

Probably got these from my parents.

Got the bowl cut from my mom, and developed insane piano skills probably during my time in the fetus. Born with a High School diploma in my fingers.

I inherited my teeth from my mom. Or rather, my absence of teeth… I only have six incisors, three on top, three on bottom. She had all her bottom ones but one of the top ones was deformed and small; her mother had the same thing with the same tooth, and one of her sisters was missing it too.

But then I got fabulous eyesight and a huge brain, and somehow avoided inheriting my parents' total lack of useful motor skills. So, win. And only one of my children inherited my tooth weirdness!

I think I got the best from my folks. 6'1, perfect vision, high math and language aptitudes, no allergies, strong immune system and high pain tolerance. Also hazel eyes, when everyone else in the family is brown… that's kinda weird. Oh yeah, and I'm sorta fat. I think that's mom's side.

Let’s see, complete deafness in my left ear due to missing nerves, winging scapula (also due to missing nerves), major neck and shoulder issues, farsighted with dual astigmatisms, eczema, and I am almost entirely flat-footed.

The worst part is really the neck and shoulder issues. I will probably have to have both my rotator cuffs replaced by the time I am 30.

Well at least I got a decent amount of intelligence, but sadly not the motivation to use it as effectively as I could.
