It’s a reference to the film Silence of the Lambs, I believe. Jodie Foster played an FBI operative-in-training named Clarice Starling, who was tracking a serial killer who abducted and murdered women.

And every time I see Captain Stottlemeyer on Monk, I giggle a little, picturing him ‘tucking’ and saying that famous line about what he’d do to himself.

No worries. I don’t expect everyone to catch all the references. That’s what Google’s for.

Looks like panel one has a cameo from the Sentient Mold: https://www.bugmartini.com/comic/all-hallows-end/

Great comic as always! I can definitely relate to this. Fortunately, it’s usually rare to actually find someone who lives in the apartment from Frasier.

My wife and I are going to have our niece stay with us in two weeks. We’ve been spending the last month frantically trying to get the house clean enough that a teenager isn’t going to be grossed out by it.

Yes. It’s going to take a total of a month and a half to get ourselves UP to the level of “teenager’s room”.

Ian, I just seconded your remark at CIDU (“Credit Cards”), and here I am again. Our teenage grandkids will be here in a month, so we’re starting to de-clutter and clean. It’s a big job!

Great comic, Adam! So accurate, especially the 2nd panel. I’m always so relieved when I go into someone’s home that’s as cluttered as mine.

I never have visitors, so the first time someone asks if they would like to stop by, I’m going to have to ask for a 7 day notice to get my place even remotely presentable.

It’s amazing how less messy you’ll keep your house if you have a cleaning service once a week.

I assume you mean you clean up so you’re not embarrassed when the cleaners arrive.

Every month everyone should either schedule company for a couple of days or a party. Then your house will get regular deep
    cleanups.

Back when I used to have friends, I hosted a dinner-and-movie night once a week which forced me to keep a minimum level of tidiness. Then they all moved about four years ago. I think I’ve cleaned house maybe three times since then, but it’s okay since nobody ever comes to visit anyway.

It only just hit me how much the art in this comic has changed. The bugs barely look like the angular cockroaches of the very first strips anymore, they practically look like people in fancy suits (with antennas. Antennae? Antennanae?)
That’s not a bad thing, mind. I’m impressed and I really love the art style as it is right now. Not to mention every new comic is hilarious.

Thanks! Yeah, it’s weird looking at those old ones. I never consciously altered the artwork. That sorta thing just evolves on its own.

You should make one of those ‘evolution of man’ charts (from caveman to modern man walking in a line).
