It’s depressing how much of our brain capacity is taken up with old TV theme songs and ad jingles, any of which is likely to get stuck on an endless loop. I wonder what people had for earworms in the 14th century.

      They had literal earworms.

They used the earworm effect to remember all the stuff that we write down or look up on Google every time we need the info. Information was often put into poetic form so it could be sung in your head and recalled later.

I was thinking just the other day about Smokey and the Bandit, and how ridiculous the premise seems in modern times. First off, that anybody would go to any effort at all to drink Coors beer is mind boggling. Then the fact that while distributors didn’t carry it back east, it was illegal to go pick up a truckload of it for your own personal use and bring it back, or that anyone would actually care if you did. Prohibition really messed us up for a long time afterward.

I thought about how they’d do it in modern times, too.

Now, back up is just a radio click away.

However, it wasn’t a lack of back up for the Sheriff. It was his ego that got in the way.

Yeah, If you were to r remake Smokey and the Bandit, you’d have to take helicopters out of the equation. Maybe go post-apocalyptic. It would basically be a comedic Mad Max: Fury Road.
