I like the notion that by shooting one self with at tranq-gun one must obviously aim for the head.

I also like that Adam either knew, or researched, that etorphine is used to tranq large mammals.

And that your arm is long enough to aim this rather long barrel gun at your head.

Anyone who’s played a metal gear solid game knows that head shots with a tranquilizer are an instant knockout!

Didn’t you just tweet about this? Funny to see it show up in a comic so quickly.

I actually wondered this same thing. If I had a webcomic like this and it happened to me, I’d hurriedly draw that for today’s comic, regardless of what I had planned. 😛

Oddly, this is reassuring to me. I never understood why one would get a charley horse like that just out of blue. After running a marathon? Sure. Lying peacefully in bed? Huh?

Every time I get one of these, I have to jump out of bed because standing on it is the only thing that stops the ridiculous pain. Then I can go right back to sleep XD

      Me too.
I use this time to go to the bathroom – since I’m up, anyway.

Yours sound easier than mine. Standing helps, once I manage to get there after sitting with my leg held straight by force for a couple of minutes. But it still takes a few minutes before I can get back in bed without it hitting again. I guess I must get Charlie Clydesdales.

In the throes of foreplay my hubby got one. Try putting that into a PG13 comic.

Not just foreplay, certain positions are now out of “play”. Helps with delaying orgasm though.

Can foreplay have throes? Seems to me that when you get to the throeing, you’re no longer fore, you’re playing.

I get those as a by-product of aging. I think it’s caused by having had excercise/labor type jobs charlie horses when younger. They never really heal. Then, when you least expect it, BAM, “I’m Baackk”.

I am the queen of Charley Horses and have been ever since high school. Everyone suggests bananas and boring stuff… not here! 😉

I’ve found if I give the offending calf muscle a good strong squeeze, the cramp relaxes. As an added benefit, it feels like a bunch of mealworms escaping from the muscle tissue!

    Fun!

It’s a very eerie feeling to open a daily comic and have it be perfectly relevant.

I woke up this morning 10 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off, thanks to a Charlie Horse. My calf still aches.

Silly as this sounds, a lot of people believe that putting a bar of soap under the bottom sheet will prevent leg cramps. Check out http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2015/09/21/will-the-soap-remedy-really-prevent-leg-cramps/

I’d love to see bug try that.

For a few weeks after I got my first job in high school (fast food, standing up all day) I got them every night. The first one was the worst, and it looked like an alien was trying to pop out of my leg. Then after a while, they went away and I’ve never had one since.

…and now that I’ve said that, I’ll have the mother of all leg cramps tonight.

If the charlie horse is in the calf, then I found
    1) keep your leg straight,
    2) reach forward and grab your toes
And that clears it right up. Almost instantly the pain is gone and you can go back to sleep by grabbing your toes.

Seems to me that if you have a horse in a calf, keeping your leg straight won’t cut it.

I think you’re greatly overestimating the ability of the average person to grab their own toes…

You’re familiar with tracert bad.horse, right? If not, go to a command line on your internet-connected computer (if it’s a Windows machine, you usually go to the Start menu, then type “cmd” in that “search” box, and one will pop up), then type “tracert bad.horse” and then watch and wait for a minute or so.

The whole “eat a banana” “eat a tablespoon of mustard (tried that and it worked one time…ONCE!)” “try this” “try that” stuff…different people react differently to stimuli, so not all “cures” work for everyone. I have found myself that the consistent cure that works for me everytime, “so far”, is to eat a tums or two. But that could be because mine are being caused by a lack of calcium in my diet, I dunno.

Also re: the “during foreplay” remark above has happened to me upon occasion. Also during…actual “play”. Yup, no fun. Kills the mood. But later gives us a good laugh. Much later, after the wailing and gnashing of teeth part is over.
