I remember that Gary Larson once wrote about having a friend that appreciated Gary’s cartoons.

However, when that friend phoned up Gary to tell him that he really liked the cartoon in todays paper, then Gary knew that several sternly worded phonecalls from the paper were likely to follow.

Now, I know we’re not friends but I’d just like to say that I really like todays strip!

Oooo, I remember that commentary! It was in reference to a comic where the dog was sleeping and dreaming of finally have caught a car. The car was upturned and the dog was on the top, howling, as if to shout his accomplishment in such feat. However everyone else interpreted it as the dog humping the car. O_O Sadly I didn’t even interpret that until I read this commentary.

As Gary points out in his commentary, the main problem was that he decided to draw a particular car on its back, and drew a certain automotive part (the gearbox, I think) which–due to the composition of the shot–ended up just under the dog’s crotch.

At first I thought the strip went full circle with a cane being in the first and last panels.

That is one great-grandfather that knows what he’s talking about. I hope that we get to hear some other words of wisdom from him.

Don’t know if I’m ready to watch a porn and see my bug’s face stuffed in some sex-slave’s mouth.

High-octane buyer’s remorse nay be the greatest phrase ever coined. I wonder if it works with other things. High-octane nostalgia? High-octane fatigue? High-octane apathy?
