Racist polar bear is my new favorite insult.

Actually, that kind of sounds racist in and of itself. Like something you’d specifically call a white person to imply they were pale, fat, hairy, and an incredible swimmer.

…actually it might only apply to a long-retired Michael Phelps…

Pale? Polar bears actually have black skin, just the guard hair appears white.

Greenpeace’s “laughing whale” campaign changed the image of whales significantly. To bad nobody did the same for, say, cows. While the whale saving efforts per se are a good thing, they are distracting a lot of energy from solving some real problems.

You mean saving animals with about as much chances of surviving in the wild as domesticated cats .-.

We have so much cattle because we eat them, we stop eating we stop caring, their numbers drop, thousands die inhumanly daily from overpopulation, just because you’re being an overly sensitive idiot, whales are endangered because of us, cows would be without us.

However, commercial cattle rearing tends to cause severe strain on the environment unless properly conducted (As per the Masai, the dehesa system or really any method that works to combat damage to watersheds ((caused by cattle’s tendency to graze on the banks of streams, and agricultural runoff, among other things, but i don’t have time to go into detail about)), and retain or preserve a natural grassland environment, so as to minimize harm to the environment.) Due to such factors as untreated sewage from feedlots, antibiotic overuse in domestic animals, or disease caused by cramming myriad animals onto a tiny strip of dirt and overfeeding them.

ignoring the narration it looks like bug suddenly has a change of heart in panel 2 and no longer thinks baby polar bears are cute.

Seals. They’re pretty receptive to anti-polar bear comments.

I live in the arctic. Polar bears have come near the community I live in. They are, in fact, jerks.

I love the look on his face when he’s considering the plight of the ice-floe stranded warthog.

Not to get all political, but the racists and the people concerned about climate change tend to be completely different people. Just sayin’.

True, but that has nothing to do with what he’s saying. He’s saying that if polar bears were racist, we wouldn’t care what happens to them, and thus would be less concerned with global warming.

Except they aren’t. Racist is just a convenient word used to silence one side.

I always laugh at the people who who get all mopey over the poor polar bears. I’m pretty sure most of those polar bears would eat you given half the chance.

And that’s different from how humans have treated most animals for most of our time as hunters, how?
Also, they probably wouldn’t. Bears would prefer to hunt something easier to kill, like a seal, which is just a slow moving lump of fat on land. They’d have to be desperate for food, or feel threatened, to go after something as difficult to kill as a human.

Did you just call a puny, clawless, liable-to-freeze-to-death-regardless person “difficult to kill”? The only thing we have going for us is that we’re more gristle and bone than seals.
