I’m tired of this trite and archaic “all men need to make a competition of everything” trope; it’s as untrue and passé as any of the tropes disparaging women by projecting certain activities and attitudes to all of them (such as that they all love glitter, shopping and are all bad at math).
One person is one person, regardless of sex/gender/whatever.
There is, in fact, ample scientific research that shows that men are, on average, more competitive than women. The empirical data is quite convincing.
