you have evolved to avoid such incidents. perhaps this trait will be passed down to your children and we will all have a day when the human race will wonder what actually the funny bone was.

      That’s not how evolution works.

True – the only way humans would lose their funny bone is if everyone with a funny bone died out for some reason, and thus only mutants who lacked a funny bone would survive. Since I know of no current mutation that causes the funny bone to disappear, wiping out everyone with a funny bone would just kill all humans.

I remember whacking my elbow and getting that weird, numb-sort-of-hollow pain too. Nothing HUMERUS about it!

So it’s not just me who stopped hitting my funny bone! I was wondering why it stopped. Still am, for that matter.

you probably accidentally conditioned yourself not to do it. Hitting your funny bone is associated with a displeasurable experience, so you associate the actions that lead up to hitting your funny bone with displeasure, eventually resulting in you not doing those things any more.

I also find it hilarious that we’re still calling it a funny bone

Oh, your time for a repeat is coming. I’m in my 40’s and I still smack that sucker once in a while.

As long as you’re flailing, why not taking up juggling and amaze friends and bewilder strangers. Be careful when flailing in public, you may offend a deaf person inadvertently.

I’m afraid that when thinking of a good pun for this one, I’m boned.
