That’s not something that game developers do. That’s something that -mobile- game developers do. Proper game developers -sell- you a game – one that either is perfectly functional as a game on its own, or comes with a -mandatory- ongoing cost -from the outset-. In either case, you know up front exactly what you’re getting into. If there are additional -purchases- after the initial purchase of the game, they are never -necessary- to enjoy the game. No self-respecting game developer releases DLC that is absolutely mandatory for the player.
Enamel pins are a cool Kickstarter goal, if you’re taking suggestions. I look forward to buying the book.
I would invest in that kickstarter if they included a volume control or 3d model. I hear it’s a lot more fun to build your own. . .
