Well, the first principle of nature is “be many”, not “be clever” or anything else.
And to become many, any two dips are just right. 😉

So, considering this I think it’s odd how many prerequisites people have to match when they’d like to adopt a child.

    The dirty word is “Eugenics”.

And while I’m sure that YOU would be perfectly suitable as the judge of parental fitness, it would probably be that idiot over THERE that gets the job. And why should we trust HIM(or HER, as the case may be)???

R2-D2 would be a perfectly legitimate judge of parental fitness.

How about: the same qualities you need to adopt are the ones you need to reproduce

As someone who’s heard many a regaled tale of fighting zoning, I love this!

The sad fact is, when it comes to zoning, you can be made to demolish a structure AFTER it was approved and built. Is this what you were referring to in the last panel?

You might not be able to get a dog because your property boarder’s a wetland (and we cant contaminate that), but what about a cat?

Keep em coming, Adam! Haters will be haters. Speak your mind. Nearly all of your viewers will always listen and laugh.

I love that girl bug can sometimes stand in that pose, looking like a doofus (sorry) Dip.
Are…you trying to tell us anything Adam? Is there a little bug on the way? Will niece bug finally have a cousin? Oh, think of the trouble they’ll get into!

Kids don’t get into trouble so much as generate it.
What this world needs to do is figure out how to harness this source of trouble as a replacement for fossil fuels. Sure the generation of methane would be a significant byproduct by think of the cost savings for power generation.

Please do. It’s a fathers right. Plus I have this 6 years of bug feeling that it’d be a very damn funny perspective on fatherhood. My son is 14 months and believe me when I say you will think and say things you never imagined would be logical. It’s willfull endearing insanity.

It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from the movie Parenthood:

“…You need a license to buy a dog, or drive a car. Hell, you need a license to catch a fish! But they’ll let any butt-reaming asshole be a father.”

I’ve always loved that quote too. But I’m confused by the last sentence, because that’s *not* how you become a father.

As for the couple in the last panel, they should have offered to get a cat. I bet they would have passed the requirements. (Do you have a lap? Are you capable of petting and serving your new master food? Good to go.)

      Yeah…what the…?
      Relocating? Now I’m really confused…

Oh, wait. I just re-read the strip. Maybe victorolosaurus thinks the bit about the retaining wall and needing permits and such means you’re building a new house. I think they missed the point of the comic, though.
