I don’t expect everyone to know who the two guys are in the last panel, but if you don’t know who the guy (the one who speaks) in the first panel is then congratulations, you make me feel old.
Originally the caterpillar in the last panel was going to say: “I sure hope Marlin Perkins isn’t filming this,” but even I thought was too old of a reference. Plus it wouldn’t make much sense as Marlin is quite deceased.
The first panel of yesterday’s strip was just meant to be a throwaway gag, but I began to wonder if I could work with that premise and actually ended up writing the strip that would’ve happened.
