I had no idea Ghoulies was obscure.

In the last panel you forgot the phrase “…from a rocking chair.” Although I guess the dialect kinda speaks for itself. I do love the old-fashioned carny bug with his hat and little round glasses, although for the life of me I could not find the name for that hat.

Also, first and second panels? Awesome. “Aaaah…pungent.”

I do believe it’s called a “boater hat”.

Quite right, Nosio. It is, indeed, a Boater. The Bug wearing it is obviously an Englishman from Oxford University. Or is it Cambridge?

That, or he’s a gondoleer pilot, or a traditional 1950s huckster, or a 50’s political campaign worker, or possibly a secret service agent undercover as one of those.

Or he’s just a modern fop who keeps up on hat rules.

It would be wise to invest in a shotgun to make the scene complete, but maybe that only applies after a certain age…

I do declare that’s a straw boater. Hat that is. Very rare sightings of those. High School productions of “Music Man” perhaps.

Personally, I love that you said “Passersby” instead of the over-used and incorrect “Passerbys”.
Ahhhh, grammatical correctness. All is right with the world…
And yes, it’s a straw boater’s hat, not a porkpie. IMHO, at least.

Oh, God dumpsters, I know what living next to one is like. Those loud 8 am bangs, bonks, and crashes and also the pungent smell. *shudders*

The difference between porches and decks is that porches are on the front, where people go by. It’s more neighborly. At least back when your neighbors weren’t all inside surfing the internet and playing video games, or out carpooling their kids.

That 2nd panel made my nose hurt. Also, is it weird that I laughed hardest at the 3rd panel? The bland niceness of that quiet judgment really threw me off.

I was struggling to think of a real nasty judgement to pass on her when I realized that going the opposite way might actually be funnier.

I laughed hardest at the “romantically fulfilling relationship”, “nope, just a porch” bit, actually – not common to find the first panel the best, but in this case it just seemed like such a ba-dum-ching.

My first thought was the video game, “Grabbed by the Ghoulies”. = P
