I’ve been catching up on the show Parks & Recreation and a few days ago I noticed that Netflix describes it as a “droll comedy.” After reading that I realized – I wasn’t entirely sure I could define the word “droll.” So, in preparation for this strip, I deliberately did not look it up in the dictionary until I uploaded this strip. Now that it’s up, I’m gonna check it out right now.

Hold on….

Okay, Webster’s American Dictionary (college edition) defines droll as:

“amusing in an odd way; whimsically humorous; waggish.”

Well I certainly came closer to the definition than I thought I would. I figured it would mean something like “intellectual” or “loved by hipsters.” ‘Course, now I have a new word to make up a definition for – waggish! Have any of you ever used the word “waggish” in a sentence? Sounds like someone trying to say “radish” after receiving a double shot of Novocaine.
