To be fair, my toaster usually also doesn’t curl up on my lap and wants to cuddle

There’s more to this than you think!
No-one tells you that any cat will throw up mainly on any wood or otherwise acid-sensitive surfaces. I collected forensic evidence and found that they will do this 12-18 seconds after you go to bed. This way, the floor-acid exposure time is maximized. Clever little devils! 🙂

There is a fundamental similarity between cats and babies. Some cats puke often, others don’t (luckily, our cat doesn’t). Some babies puke often, others don’t. Our first kid did not, but the second one always spit up (just a little) after every feeding. Luckily, this did stop once the meals included solid food, instead of being pure milk. The obvious corollary would be to experiment with alternative cat food brands and/or types.

My toaster randomly cremates its contents and set off the smoke alarm. I’ve yet to see a cat to do that.

Two of my three cats at least go out of their way not to puke on the furniture.

Then there’s Sammy, who pukes wherever he happens to be.

A late cat of mine would book it for the bathroom when she got sick. Sadly this tended to result in a trail of cat puke across the apartment.
