Saturday Sketch [8-5-12]

Okay, I got hung up this weekend and didn’t have time to do a Saturday sketch, so this is a Sunday sketch from many years ago. I still got tons of old sketches I did when I was still trying to come up with an idea for a comic strip. These two were from my “Maybe all animals” and “Maybe some dude in a suit” phases. I’m still unsure if I’ll post all those old sketches here, or take the good ones and turn them into bonus material for a book – and before you ask, yes, I’m still working on book one.

Also, I talked to Dan (the guy I got helping me with my site) and he said I outta put the “First” and “Latest” buttons back. I told him I was going to make custom buttons and didn’t want the navigation area to get to cluttered, but he still insisted that they should return. So you guys can thank him for that.

The Saturday Sketch

Hey folks,

Just wanted to let you know that I’m in the process of giving this site a much needed shake-up. I’m starting with the navigation buttons; getting rid of the unnecessary ones and customizing others. I’m also eyeballing those way-too-big icons in the left sidebar. Who makes their twitter link that big? Yeesh.

And, just for fun, I thought I’d start posting some of the sketches I do on the weekends. I’m interested to see if I can make The Saturday Sketch a regular thing. It won’t always be bugs either, though this week’s sketches are pretty much nutin’ but bugs. Maybe next week I’ll take requests.

More Fan Art

I finally had  time last weekend to go through some old emails and found fan art that I received a long time ago, but never got around to posting. Shame on me. A portion of them are up in the Fan Art page. I’ll hopefully find time next weekend to post the rest.

Next & Latest Buttons

Hello All,

Just a quick update: My site has finally moved to its new webhost thanks to my new friend/guy-I-will-constantly-bother-with-my-website-problems, Dan. I’m loving the new setup as the entire site seems to be loading much faster.

Now I know some of you were experiencing problems with the “next” and “latest” buttons since the move. I was hoping that it was just a by-product of the move and would sort itself out after awhile. Well, it didn’t. So I called on Dan once again and asked him to pop the hood and see if he could figure out what was going on. And, as Dan is a maestro with this website stuff, he quickly identified the problem and – hopefully – resolved it. He said we should know by tomorrow (which is in about five minutes right now) so all you folks who were having problems with these buttons, try ’em again and let me know if they’re working properly.

If they’re working, great! If not, wait till tomorrow and try them again, who knows? Maybe it’ll take a day for this to take effect.

Moving Day

I’m 37 years old and I consider myself fortunate to still have a full head of hair. At least, I assume I do. I suppose it’s entirely possible that the woman who cuts my hair has discovered a bald spot and has been humoring me with what beauticians commonly refer to as “air-scissoring.”

But even if I do possess the luscious mane I think I have, the random outages my website has experienced will eventually liberate me from all my hair; both from stress and from pulling it out in fits of rage. If you’ve ever been annoyed that my site is down, feel comforted that it’s but a fraction of the anger I feel. I’ve contacted my web host numerous times about the matter but have never been given a satisfactory answer. So, at this point I think the best way to remedy this problem is to simply switch web hosts.

Now, if I do this correctly (and by “I” I mean my friend, Kelly who knows much more about this stuff than I do) there should be no downtime during the move which I’m scheduling for this weekend. But if you come to my site on Saturday or Sunday and you’re greeted with a smoldering crater where my site once was – don’t fret. It’ll hopefully back up and running on Monday.
