I was pretty certain I’d read this comic before – but maybe as a ninja instead of a samurai. Couldn’t find it in the archives. Did find that the artwork has improved.
The funniest panel is #1 where Bug has had the sudden revelation that he doesn’t see an out-of-work samurai nearby while in the middle of an empty field.
Out of work ninjas are in the vent systems at starbucks using the free wifi. Or they’re out of their ninja gear dressed like a normal person blending in. Whichever suits you better.
Honestly, the movie SEVEN SAMURAI genuinely is about seven out-of-work samurai getting a job. Indeed, a crappy job: protect a village against bandits, pay, as many bowls of rice as we can scrape up.
Spend a day sometime and watch SEVEN SAMURAI, then the Western THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, and finish it off with the Roger Cormin movie BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS. It’s worth it.

I actually wrote a follow-up strip to today’s strip about out-of-work ninjas. Not sure if I’ll use it. It does have different jokes at least.
