I hate to break this to you, man, but the brain is housed inside the skull. The skeleton isn’t trapped inside you, you are trapped inside the skeleton.

I always find myself wondering about the skeleton when I see extremely, er, rotund people.

Ha. I do have quite a list.
And, whenever one of them has a guest comic I seem to find more. 😀

I’ve always wondered Adam, is is the same main bug in each comic? In this case the Bug in Panels One and Three. I really want it to be the random adventures and nonsense thoughts of the same Bug in the comics/strips, rather than a new and entirely different Bug each strip. Also a huge fan of the comic and I’m saving up to get a tattoo of the Sparkler-Nunchuk Bug from your “Nervous Breakdown” strip.

Bugs bug bodies have hard, chitinous exoskeletons with all the soft bits housed inside.

I always love how the antennae have “bones” in them, when a bug skeleton is drawn. Love this comic so, so much!

I don’t see why a species couldn’t have both a full endoskeleton and a full exoskeleton, but a brief search of the Internet tells me that such a species doesn’t exist. At least, as far as we know.

And we know not as much as we think we do.
Then there are the military research projects …..on second thought ….. after caffeine …. lets not go there.

If a species had an exoskeleton and endoskeleton, I think it would be impossible for it to move its joints. Armored creatures with endoskeletons have the plates slide past each other as the joint bends. But sliding plates wouldn’t provide the support that is probably a defining characteristic of a skeleton.

Somebody– Heinlein? Blish? Lovecraft? — wrote a short story about a guy who couldn’t stand the fact that he had a skeleton and got it extracted. It didn’t end well.

As long as it’s running around inside, and not outside.

When I was in the third grade, it struck me how odd it was that I, and all my peers, had a skeleton in each of us.

As we sat at our desks, there was a skeleton sitting in the exact same position as each one of us. As we stretched in gym class, there was a skeleton doing the exact same thing.

I’m somewhat relieved to find out that I’m not the only one who has ever thought that this was a little creepy.

Skeletons are creepy because we make them creepy. Let’s try the reverse here; remember that owl pellet you had to dissect in class (probably)? All that fur and bones used to be a living, moving creature. KFC? Used to be a part of a whole clucking chicken. If our ancestors didn’t make the notion of death creepy or sad, we’d have an entirely different outlook. It’s all part of the circle of life.

Also, think about pregnant women. They don’t have one but TWO skelotons inside their body!

That last panel isn’t as unrealistic as it seems. There’s been more than one instance of a real dead body being mistaken for a Halloween decoration.
