Eh. Most commercial eggs aren’t fertilized. Pumpkin seeds are, because the fruit forms as part of the fertilization process.

Eggs are technically more like placenta than unborn children.

In my country we don’t just eat the unborn children. We put the blood of hundreds of unborn pumpkin children on our salads.

Plus, once finished removing their innards, we put an open flame inside their bodies!

I haven’t carved a pumpkin for a long time, but when I did, I’d make the Psycho music screeching sounds.

I like how the pumpkin is carved to be looking at bug with horror.

I think pumpkin carving is one of the must imaginative and entertaining art forms (I’m particularly fond of the one’s that have the innards coming out of its mouth like it’s puking).

Imagine clubbing baby seals into Rorschach patterns or a Jackson Pollock-type original.

Sorry, pumpkins. It’s worth the sacrifice (for us). No hard feelings for the fire in your head or the subsequent smashing and stomping.

From what I understand, pumpkin carving originates from an ancient practice to create idols to ward off evil spirits. It was believed that by carving faces in the pumpkins, the evil spirits would fear it and run away.

In that respect, it’s more like using plastic surgery to turn someone into an abomination, for the purposes of making sure nobody hurts you.

This year I actually gave my pumpkin a 5-o’clock shadow. (Never got to take a picture, and even if I had I can’t find any way to upload it here, so, y’know, just take my word for it.)
